Kashmir (still) Burns

I read a touching post yesterday by a sister remembering her brother who died fighting terrorists in Kashmir.

“J&K: 2 majors, 9 infiltrators killed

How many times have you and I read headlines like these in the last so many years and not given it a second thought? It seems like there is one such headline every few days and all we can do is shake our head in disdain and move on to the next headline. But today, I can’t move on, much as I try. Because Major Dinesh R Raman of 34 Rashtriya Rifles who succumbed to his injuries last night in a Srinagar hospital was my brother. ”

Even in death, his only concern was getting the militants.

“Don’t let any militant escape,” these were the last words of Major D Raghuraman when he was air-lifted from the gun-battle spot in North Kashmir after being hit by a bullet in the chest. (link)

All this for what? How many more people have to die fighting this enemy that just keeps coming at them? New Delhi and Islamabad talk of peace initiatives while everyday people are getting killed in the heaven on earth that wasn’t to be. When is this violence going to end?

Then i came across this news clip about the growing number of Kashmiri people committing suicides. Included was the shocking cctv footage of a man parking his scooter on Amirakdal bridge in Srinagar, and jumping off to his death in the Jhelum.

“Suicide attempts are being reported almost on a daily basis.” “300 people attempted suicide in the past 6 months”

Is a piece of land worth the thousands of bodies lying all over the Kashmir valley?

Call me naive, but i cannot understand how anybody can stand to gain by killing another person? When so many people die for no fault of theirs, no one wins. Who loses? Humanity.

Sometimes a war is necessary to end evil and regain peace, but when it is meant for a political propaganda or for economic growth, its nothing short of genocide. Some time back i was of the opinion that kashmir should be let go, it was just another political agenda which was killing innocents,

but now i feel that terrorists have to be stopped from getting into our nation, it doesnt matter which route they follow, we have to defend ALL. I am grateful for the courage that sons and daughters of India are showing to curb this evil and my heart goes out to the family members.

i am a kashmiri from the indian occupied kashmir. i have lived there and seen my muslim brothers and sisters be humiliated by indian army dogs who have aped thousands of women in the last 18 years. we have ove 60000 orphans and 20000 widows, and guess who killed them? the indian army. go talk tp the real kashmiri, we have suffered at th hands of india for 60years. this dosent mean much to u z tv propaganda- fed indians because you dont know and dont care about the reality. you dont care about your soldiers who die like dogs in the mountains of kashmir, all that unreported just like in iraq. as far as legal issues are concerned, 18 UN resolutions have been passed on kashmir which clearly state the RIGHT OF SELF DETERMINATATION for KASHMIRIS. and ALL UN RESOLUTIONS HAVE BEEN BLOCKED BY INDIA. if there is a true election in kashmir, india will be kicked out in a week, and they know it. if you really want to know the reality, visit kashmir. we can be good hosts and treat you with ‘wazwan’ or be bad enemies and shove a AK 47 up……..

    peace

More details about the Kashmiri demographies, the ethnic cleansing, and the Kashmiri pandits who are now refugees in their own country.

There is a deliberate attempt to twist the truth about the Kashmir conflict including the role of the UN and the UNCIP.

Those who spread propaganda are seldom challanged, for unlike them who are driven with an agenda, the rest of India is guilty of being too lazy to learn the truth and to raise awareness.

Anyone interested in the Kashmir issues, here is a link to the articles I have written which exposes such propaganda. You may find how different the truth is from what is quoted above.

I personally know a collegue whoes family escaped from Kashmir but not without seeing some violence and blood. That was years ago but that person (Engineer and a good performer) has pretty aggressive views (in negative sense sometimes). I was surprised to hear him say all that.
Other day I saw an interview with a terrorist on CNN where the interviewer could not get the terrorist to think logically. Moral of the story, emotions can get out of the hand and when brainwashed logic or humanity do not come to mind.

None of that justifies killing anyone…..Seems like a real wash of brains is needed for some people.
