They carried out bomb blasts in Mumbai. We rebounded and rebuilt the city. They attacked our parliament, and we stopped juust short of eliminating our neighbor state. They carried out bomb blasts in Delhi, and we kept going on.
Today they crossed the line. We have had enough.
Our hearts go out to the families of those killed in the latest attack on India. This sudden turn of events is unbearable, unfortunate, undesired, unnecessary, and completely uncalled for.

When the US was attacked in 2001, they went to war with Afghanistan. How is India going to react? Our prime minister has already condemned the attacks. Does he have the balls to do anything more?
The proverbial long arm of the law apparently isn’t long enough. We are being attacked at will, and the intensity of the attacks and the damage keeps increasing.
Somebody needs to start taking their job more seriously.
Our nation needs to get together in this moment of despair. There is no doubt we will rebound. What is important is to learn our lessons from this incident. We need to rise to the challenge and step up the heat on the people who don’t like our beloved country. Through history, we Indians have stuck together in adversity, and will stand up as one through this test.
In New york, they say
“If you see something, say something“.
Its time we Indians took matters in our hands. A billion pairs of eyes and hands guarding the nation will go a long way towards making our embattled nation a safer place to live.

The difference between Americans and Indians is that Americans are American first while Indians are punjabi/ bengali etc or hindu/ muslim or baniya/ kshatriya first, Indian later as an after-thought. Recognising that we are INDIANS first and foremost is crucial to effecting lasting change.
Nikhil Narayanan mentioned http://www.stopterrorism.in – see if that interests you. B Shantanu on his blog Satyameva Jayate has a post on what we must do which will interest you. If you use #mumbai on Twitter you can see collated lists of blogs with ideas on the issue. If we start now, we can do something.
First I was shocked, then I was sad and in tears, now I am hopping mad but also rational and calm – and therefore thinking, along similar lines as you.
Take care.

Just sent this comment to Larry King Live, contradicting Christian Amanpore’s TOTALLY SLANTED STATEMENT AGAINST INDIAN HINDUS!!!!:- “Larry, on your show today, Christian Amanpore’s views have been totally slanted against Indian Hindus!! She’s talking of 2006 enquiries that didn’t have much of a meaning and is showing that Indian Muslims are disadvantaged – this is Ridiculous, to say the least! India has had multiple Prime Ministers who have been Muslim, has had a Muslim President, and has almost 70% Bollywood actors/actresses who are Muslims and have “celebrity status”. To say that Muslims are disadvantaged in this nation, shows that Christian has a narrowly focused view of those Muslims who are tethered to their fundamentalist religion and multiply relentlessly only to increase the Muslim population, and thus can not uplift themselves from the lowest levels of poverty in that country. However, she needs to see that there are enough non-Muslims who are worse off than the Muslims she is talking about. She’s lost all credibility today!!”

Shefaly – Thanks for the links. Indeed, its about time we started raising some awareness in the country and people started taking on more responsibilty. If the authorities arent upto the task, then maybe we need to take things into our own hands.
Prateek – I think i saw the segment you are referring to, and felt the same way. There were some strange and unknowledgeable comments about India and Indian muslims, which left a bad taste in the mouth.

I just hope that our politicians wake up. They have to think! They have to give orders to the forces. I just hope that they just don’t sit, make committees and mull over the situation until the public anger subsides.

//They carried out bomb blasts in Mumbai. We rebounded and rebuilt the city. They attacked our parliament, and we stopped juust short of eliminating our neighbor state. They carried out bomb blasts in Delhi, and we kept going on// why don’t we strengthen our intelligence network, why don’t we depoliticise our police, why do we always react and show courage after being attacked. Prevention is always better than cure.

Amit: There are a billion people joining you in hoping for some meaningful action.
Prerna: Maybe this event will serve as the, ahem, last straw, in making the government realise that they need to start preventing rather than reacting.

Very well said. The helplessness we feel right now is really getting to me. We can’t just sit around talking about it, hoping that someone, somewhere will act. We need to do SOMETHING, right?
