Google Knows it All

Google as we all know, is God. Google knows everything. Google Baba will answer all your queries and solve all your problems.

If you go to Google.com and start typing a question, it will start suggesting some questions that people have been looking for, and a number of the results matching that query.

Great way to find the popular searches and results.

Got this idea from Chirag’s post on a search for India. Presented below, are Google’s thoughts on some of the bigger questions bothering humanity.

About the world…

is_the_world

Apparently the world is going to end in 2012.

A quick search later, google told me that thanks to some alignment of the stars on 21 Dec 2012, the earth might just come to an end. For this reason, the Mayan (who, did you say?) calender ends on that date! Whoa.

About Earth…

is_the_earth

This one’s interesting. Looks like there is still some debate on whether the earth is flat or not. And to think that Aristotle answered that question for us a few hundred years before Jesus Christ was born.

Next a look at Democracy…

is_democracy

Exactly the questions that keep me awake at night. Uncanny.

What about Capitalism?

is_capitalism

Looks like people are losing faith in good old money making.

If we talk capitalism, how can American be far behind?

is_america

The results for Obama were shocking.

is_obama

Antichrist? Terrorist? WTF!

After America, China and India seem to be the more important nations in today’s world.

is_china

Given the constant comparisons between India and China, these results seemed quite appropriate.

is_india

India. Safe? Apparently not so much after Mumbai. Soft? After Mumbai, probably yes.

Secular? Ya, right.

Go on. Try for yourself. This exercise will produce some very interesting results.

    Interesting!
I searched for these interesting questions on Yahoo Answers and here’s what i got
-Is the world going to end in 2012
Yahoo Ans:Nobody has to worry about anything absolutely nothing will happen on 2012 apart from the olympics :)

    -Is the earth flat
Yahoo Ans: Yahoo results took me to http://theflatearthsociety.org !!

-Is democracy the answer to global terrorism
Yahoo Ans: A paper on the same topic which mentions that installing democracy in Iraq or Afganistan is not the answer to global terrorism. It quotes F. Gregory Gause III “Rather than push for quick elections, the United States should instead focus its energy on encouraging the development of secular, nationalist, and liberal political organiztions that could compete on an equal footing with Islamist parties”.

    -Is capitalism failing
Yahoo Ans: This was not the top answer but I found it witty “Free-market capitalism became obsolete with the invention of the computer. How can the market hope to make corrections when the traders are zigging faster than the market can zag”.

    -Is America babyon
Yahoo Ans: I believe after the US expanded its territories to Iraq (the old Babylon) it is very reasonable to think America is the New Babylon

    -Is Obama a terrorrist
Yahoo Ans:Well, you’ll find out, won’t you. He is our new president!

-Is china better than India in software
Yahoo Ans:no china is better in hardware india is good in software.

    -Is India Secular
Yahoo Ans: One of the search result took me to http://www.peoplefirstindia.org/is_india_secular.htm

    Finally
    -Is India Safe
I bet this one came from a patriot like us.
Yahoo Ans: Even if there is gunfire all around you dont worry we Indians will make sure that you are safe. Don worry. India is always safe.

Aren’t all these weird queries are actual keywords typed by people around the world in Google…???

In that case, its should People and their Weird Keywords!!!! :D
    Just a Thought! ;)

p.s. BTW.. I have heard/read somewhere(in Google, I presume), that Google crawlers also recognize the text inside an image and register it as keywords!!! Is that true???

  3. amreekandesi on January 29, 2009 at 1:40 am

    @Amlistening – Nice work there!

@rush.Me – Not really. These are questions that Google knows the answers to. It is just that based on what you entered, Google shows a list of the questions beginning with your entry that have the most results.

From this link i get the impression that Google cannot recognize text within images. Not yet, at least.

Interesting post and introspection. I guess it just shows what people of the world think about various topics. I shall try for some when I search, good one :) People seem to be a lot more negative than I thought. I mean people are searching for more failures than success of a certain thing. That is bad.

  10. Solilo on January 29, 2009 at 3:26 pm

  19. 2012 Predictions on January 21, 2010 at 10:12 am

I was wondering about the fossil record, that if every 26,000 years that the Earth, Sun and Galactic center all line up, if we can see evidence from that in the past for a polar shift. The Mayans must have been brilliant to know how everything would line up without technology with telescopes and computers and to even know there is a center of our Galaxy way back then. But what worries me is the information from so many different cultures and people, the Bible code, prophets, modern day visions like the Web Bot from the internet, government, Hopi Indians, Mayans, Merlin, I-Ching, astronomy, and Egyptians.

They all predict the same thing. Maybe nothing will happen but it does seem like a big coincidence.

    google is good./……

  21. Mike on September 1, 2010 at 7:56 am

Predictions has got a point, there is actually alot of legitimate information about 2012 that gets kinda freaky if you ask me.
