You’re probably right. I think it might be worth considering whether a person is an American citizen or not though. For those who aren’t, setting up shop in America can be very difficult. If you can travel regularly and get clients around the world, having a business can be very beneficial in terms of cost.

I suspect we’ll see more numbers and surveys in the coming in the next few weeks and months. Personally, if I were setting up a business, I’d do so in India. And I am, in fact, heading back after considering opportunities in NYC. India seemed better. (To be fair, I’m a journalist who focuses on social injustice, so India is an obvious choice for my kind.)

@Mridu – Welcome to Amreekandesi!

I have mixed thoughts on this topic. On the one hand i hear about a growing entrepreneurship scene in India, but i also get the impression that in terms of technology, India still isn’t doing much high end work. Maybe some, but not a lot.

But then, that’s just the cynical side of me. Mixed thoughts aside, if i were to start something i would head to India.

I doubt it. For Indians, it seems the opposite is now true. If you want to start a business, head to India. Especially given the current US economy.

A friend in his 40s once told us that after his engineering he got an interview with a company which sold oil and baby powder. When he went for the interview found 4 people in one room with computers and papers. Hh got the job but he wasn’t amused with the one room set up so chose a bigger company and later moved to Canada did his MS and Phd. and now works in US in a top level good company.

The 3 people who were sitting in that one room set up actually make more than him now and are share holders of the company. The company is Wipro.

Thanks for the video, AD. Another top level from Infosys is our neighbor in India. A very polite guy but goes in hiding because daily there are zillion people at his house asking for job.
