Doctors at a government hospital in Tamil Nadu performed 14 surgeries in 3.5 hours to set a new world record. The doctors videotaped the feat and sent it to the Guinness authorities through the state government.
“We opened four patients at one go. I would open the breast, remove the tumour and nodes and move on to the next patient. My assistant and a post-graduate student would close the wound. When I moved to the fourth patient, the first was ready to be sent to the recovery room and another patient would be wheeled in,” Prasad told reporters.[link]
Outrageous, did you say?
I would certainly have not wanted to be a patient inside that operating room that day. A doctor is held in high esteem as a person who saves people’s lives. When he starts treating his patients as guinea pigs in the quest to set a world record, what do we do?
14 lives at risk for the sake of a silly record?
For some reason we are reminded of Kumar Sanu who recorded a record (ha! pun alert!) 28 songs in a single day back in his day. Wonder what happened to those songs!

Ha..ha..weirdos! and the way they are making the claim.
Outrageous is just not the word. When human beings become yet another play toy in the hands of a doctor !
I am not going to go about questioning skills. that is secondary. The abject penury of the mind to seek such vile publicity is not only appalling, it also exposes the audacity of these people.
@Amlistening – It is indeed a crazy world we all live in!
@Solilo – Weirdos sounds about right!
@Kavi – Well put!
absolutely, totally ..outrageous act of an insane person.. He still has his registration??!!??
WTF ??? playing with lives to get the record ? or was this really necessary, because of some sort of emergency ? ( how did they record the video then ? )
@RDB – I doubt anything happened to their registration. There’s crazy people like them all over the place!
@Dinu – From the news report, this doesnt seem like an emergency, but just an attempt to do something fancy.
That is crazy and shameful on the doctor’s part! Such a great profession it is, saving lives of people and it is not good to make it a mockery!
@Dinesh – Yup, very true!
