Last month my mother came to visit me and insisted on putting a clothesline in my flashy Manhattan apartment. It only makes me smile. Some habits, quirks, whims — we just can’t do without. It’s probably in the air of the subcontinent. But they define us wherever far and wide we may go. [link]
We Indians are an awesome lot. (And i am not even being sarcastic.)

love the soft soulful background music. notice this about every ad – like instructions on what to feel while watching it! once i saw all tv ads without audio – believe me, it was a strange experience. these days i am floored by the “dil titli, dil titli sa”. so, you are enjoying your back-to-my-roots life. good. it saddens me that really nice people return and not the violent, ill-mannered louts who are a blot to india wherever they go.

@ms – Good point. Ditto for horror movies. Half the horror goes away if you turn the sound to mute! And yups, i am very much enjoying life in India!
