Sunita Williams on the Colbert Report
Indian Sunita Williams was on the Colbert Report yesterday.
For those not in the loop, Williams is a NASA astronaut who holds the record for the longest space flight by a woman - 195 days. That’s six months and a half of gravity-less existence.
The Colbert Report is a talk show hosted by Stephen Colbert. Colbert is an interesting host. Funny, loud, satirical, and probably a bit too self-aggrandizing.
“What’s that mommy?
“Its the Stephen Colbert module from the space station”
“The same Stephen Colbert who saved earth from the zombies?”
“Yes. He was the most tender lover i have had”
Anyway, Colbert has been trying to get something on the space station named after him, and seems like they are going to name their treadmill the ‘Colbert’. The Combined Operational Load Bearing External Resistive Treadmill
Now the words that will be passed to the ground whenever someone has to workout will be - “Its time for me to jump on the Colbert“
Here’s a clip of Sunita Williams talking to Stephen Colbert. Check out the hair! (On her. Not him)
Watch and enjoy!
Atleast Colbert’s mission to get a NASA node named after him is much better than Ellen DeGeneres trying to be on O(pera) magazine cover. These talk show hosts are so self obsessed!
Thanks for sharing, proud to know that Sunita is a Deputy Chief at NASA.
Thanks for sharing these videos…I miss them after getting back to India!
@AmListening - I know what you are saying. It does get a bit tiring to see these celebs harping repeatedly about their achievements. They are indeed so self obsessed (not all of them. Just a few, notably Ellen and Colbert).
I mean, i don’t go around announcing my Blog of the Day award, or the rapidly growing popularity of amreekandesi.com, or my academic or professional achievements ;)
@Mahendra - You are very welcome.
I like sunitha very much. The video was beautiful i copy and paste as my screen saver.
@amreekandesi: You do know that ‘Colbert the character’ (on his show) is very different from Colbert the actual person. :)
In this case ‘Colbert the character’s goal is to get as many things named after his as possible.
Quote: “I think of him as a well-intentioned, poorly informed, high-status idiot.”
—Stephen Colbert on his character, interviewed on 60 Minutes
@Anon - I had read about that bit, and did some more reading following your comment.
It is an interesting concept, but frankly i don’t get it. I don’t care about Colbert the person - what i am watching is the host/character, who certainly has the potential to gets on your nerves more often than not.
@Amreekandesi and @Anon
Jon Stewart i hope is a whiff of fresh air!…Time Magazine has a great article on him http://nymag.com/arts/tv/features/55496/
but then i am not sure what is this http://forum.thedailyshow.com/tds/board/message?board.id=jon_stewart&thread.id=2164
He did not even asked Sunita one relevant question about her work. I could not get the reason behind calling such a high profile person on the show when there won’t be a “chat”?
@AmListening - Thanks for those links.
@Amit - I guess the interview was about was the whole COLBERT thing. He wanted something named after himself, and this chat was all about that.
I luuuved it! I think her job was to come on air and talk about Colbert, The Treadmill, heh heh heh. I like both him and Jon Stewart. They do such an amazing job of reminding us of the real news!
@My3 - :)
I like Jon Stewart more! He is brilliant.
Thanks for sharing these videos… i think whole interview is about Colbert but any way i like the interview.
Thanks for sharing. Proud of Sunita achieving new heights and space in the universe.
