Golden Oldies - Ek Anek
For those that didn’t live in the times of Doordarshan, or don’t know the power of unity, here’s something you should check out.
For those who can recall those heady times, this might just bring tears of nostalgia that flood your home/office, so be forewarned.
This relic from the good old days.
Ek Chidiya, Anek Chidiya
Dana chugne aayi chidiya…
Himmat se agar jute rahen to
Bada kaam bhi howe bhaiya(If we stick together bravely, we can do anything)
How relevant is that in today’s times?
I have this on my orkut profile. love it!
@Reema - yes, this is such a beautifully done piece!
Funnily I have to repeat Reema’s comment. As for the Theme’s relevance- It is always relevant, its one of those eternal truths. I feel because we refuse to practice it, we see what we do today.
I show this to my kids and they love it along with old songs from Indian movies as part of our “day of lazing in front of the screen” episodes we have sometimes. Its fun.
@Mysoul - Good to know that your kids love these videos. For me, this video brought back memories of those Doordarshan days when every good show/ad/video brought such welcome respite from the kind of programming they used to have.
The good shows from those days were truly golden.
Oh man, that was so nostalgic. I still remember the first time I saw this short film on Doordarshan..it was sooooooo long ago. Thanks for sharing it..
The good old days of DD and the Films Division! I had forgotten about this. Thanks for bringing back some memories!
Quirky Indian
@Dev and @QI - Thanks. Glad you enjoyed this video.
Oh my, this was so so long ago!!!
I still have this on my laptop! :)
Here…a few more memories for you.

hi, landed here via Sunny’s blog. ref to these made me smile and remember Kathasagar, Ek Kahani (you know they used to air these serials where they featured one lovely short story from desh-videsh in each episode, and you got brilliant acting from the likes of Anuradha, Pankaj Kapoor and co. these people were never quite on the big screen, yet, they were intense, hugely effective in these amazing, tiny 20 minute productions…leaving a lifelong impression on young teenage minds. wonder why they don’t re telecast those truly golden productions, again, now that I don’t have to finish HW and take permission to watch TV :) or bother abt exams anymore)
o I played the VDO for my class and they loved it. also we all loved the design of ur tag cloud
@Shivya - Long time ago indeed. A hidden treasure.
@Amit - Thanks for the link. Thats a comprehensive collection you compiled!
@Rolling - Welcome to Amreekandesi, and thanks for the appreciation.
I too feel nostalgic about those days when each movie that Doordarshan used to telecast was such a delight. And all those (rare) great shows, and amazing little shorts such as this one, and mile sur mera tumhara…
They dont produce such stuff anymore!
I used to love this song as a Kid. Animation pulled me in.
